DAILY REPORT #1471

PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 09/07/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 09/08/95

Daily Status Report as of 251/0000Z

1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED:

1.1 Completed GHRS/1 5417 (A Search for the Physical Processes on Jupiter)

The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used as part of a
program to observe atomic hydrogen emission at different latitudes and
longitudes on the planet Jupiter. A wave calibration and sky background
observations were made. The observations were completed as planned, and no
anomalies were reported.

1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 6119 (Snapshot Survey for Companions of Planetary
Nebula Nuclei)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot survey observations of planetary
nebula NGC-1501 to study its nuclei and to look for possible companions. The
observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5848 (The Nuclear Disk in the E4 Galaxy NGC-7052)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the E4 class radio galaxy
NGC-7052 to study its nuclear disk and the kinematics of the gas near the
nucleus. A wavelength calibration image was also taken. The observations
were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.)

1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 6253 (Pure Parallel Archive Program)

The WF/PC-2 was used to execute a pure parallel program taking
ultraviolet observations running concurrently with prime science
observations. The intent is to search for extra-galactic sources with flux
excesses at 3000 A0 and galactic sources with excesses at 1600 A0. The
observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported.

1.5 Completed GHRS/2 5875 (Hot Winds in T-Tuari Stars)

The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make
observations of the T-Tauri class star DR-Tau in order to study its hot
winds. This star is known to have one diskless pre-main sequence star as a
companion. A wavelength calibration image was also taken. The observations
were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.6 Completed GHRS/2 5861 (The Boron Abundances of Tidily Locked Binaries
in the Hyades Cluster)

The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make
observations of the tidily locked short period binary star HD28394 which is
located in the Hyades star cluster in order to measure its Boron abundance.
The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were reported.
