Bright Supernovae - 2009
This data comes from
IAU Circulars
and occasionally more data will be provided on
IAU's
Astronomical Headlines page.
An archive of the 2009 updates
to this page is available.
This is a list of the supernovae discovered in 2009.
For supernovae which are still visible, please look at the
main page for the latest data.
Note that Extra galactic Novae have been moved to a special
Extra galactic novae page.
For more information,
you can look at the following Supernova Catalogs:
For the year 2009, 476 supernovae (390 CBAT, 86 other sources) have been reported (279 last year).   The brightest supernova reported for the year so far is 2009ig at Mag 13.0, followed by 2009nr at Mag 13.1, 2009dd and 2009fj at Mag 13.8 and 2009Y at Mag 14.0.
