Statistics on Supernovae Discoveries

Discoveries by amateurs have been rising in recent years. This graph shows their progress:

Amateurs' contribution in SNe discoveries.

And the next page shows the amateurs who have discovered a supernova:

List of amateur discoverers of SNe.

This is a list to all extra-galactic supernovae discovered since the first one, SN 1885A in M31 (over a century ago). It is mantained by the Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams (CBAT):

All SNe since 1885. (external link)

The next pages relate to all supernovae discovered so far, their properties and their parent galaxies:

SNe distribution according to galaxies' morphological type.
SNe distribution in Right Ascension.
SNe distribution in Declination.
SNe distribution in function of parent galaxies' recession velocity.
SNe distribution according to their magnitudes.
All SNe distribution since 1885.
Galaxies with two Supernovae at least.

Which observing method is best suited for SNe discovering? Visual, photographic or CCD imaging?
