Specim Ltd. ImSpectorTM Ima ging Spectr o g raph
General Description The ImSpector adds spectral resolution to conventional imaging cameras via a standard Cmount. Rugged imaging spectrograph for visible and near infrared (NIR) spectral ranges with direct sight, astigmatism-free optics and highefficiency holographic grating with throughput independent of polarization. The system performance is polarization independent. The ImSpectorTM is an imaging spectrograph that captures a line image and disperses it to spectrum in a direction orthogonal to the line image. It is ideally suited for line inspection and color inspection machine vision systems. When coupled to a conventional black-and- white CCD camera, the addition of the ImSpectorTM forms a spectral line imaging system. Based on a unique prism-grating-prism (PGP) optical design, the ImSpectorTM is the only commercially available, direct-line- of-sight imaging spectrograph in which light goes through a straight optical axis. Unlike reflective techniques, the spectral dispersion is polarization independent. The spectrograph conveniently fits directly to most conventional C-mount imaging cameras or it can be coupled directly to PixelVision's highperformance back-illuminated cameras directly between the lens and the camera without reconfiguring the optomechanical setup. The ImSpectorTM has a broad spectral range from the 400 nm range up through the NIR (greater than 1.7 (m) and has a spectral resolution of between 5 nm and 10 nm. The direct-sight configuration offers a combination of several beneficial features: Ї High-quality, astigmatism-free image with a short focal point. Ї High-efficiency holographic volume diffraction grating and low f-number produce high throughput. Ї No reflective surfaces on the optics. Throughput independent of polarization. Ї Rugged, fixed and sealed cylindrical construction, suitable to harsh industrial conditions. Ї Small size, very simple alignment to camera. Ї Low customizing cost for application specific OEM uses in the wavelength region of 3802400 nm. The ImSpector is an ideal component for online machine vision and web inspection. It offers the first real alternative to the RGB color camera when high-resolution spectral identification, sorting and inspection on moving objects is required. The ImSpector N17, Specim's latest imaging spectrograph, is designed for NIR imaging in 900 - 1750 nm with InGaAs matrix cameras. The ImSpector converts the matrix camera to a spectral line imaging system. ImSpector N17 design employs the same unique, direct-sight spectrograph configuration as the ImSpector for silicon-camera wavelength ranges.

Spectrograph's volume holographic transmission grating and antireflection-coated transmission optics provide high throughput which is practically independent of light polarization.

ImSpector N17 is available either with C-mount for lens optics or with a fiberoptics adapter. Up to 16 parallel fiberoptic inputs of 200 (m each can be coupled to the input slit. This makes a new generation multipoint NIR analyzer with no moving optomechanics.

This closely matches the longer axis (6.4 mm) of Ѕ" CCD also. Spectral range may vary due to CCDE positioning tolerance in the camera. System spectral and spacial resolutions also depend on the discrete imaging nature of the CCD detector and lens quality.
