CCD Cameras

The Super Photon cameras utilise EEV CCDs and benefit from the close proximity of the silicon wafer fabrication facility which allows CCD camera and sensor designs to be integrated at an early stage. In addition to the range of standard cameras, EEV supplies custom-specific products which typically require high ruggedisation and special configurations. The cameras cover the ultraviolet to near infrared light wavelengths and have been supplied to a range of industrial, military, medical and space system integrators worldwide.
EEV's image intensifier design, development and manufacturing experiences complement the camera/systems activities, and have been used in a variety of low light and fast gated type applications.
Products:
Very High Resolution - The CAM07 series offers very high resolution in a standard TV type format.
Features & Options: As CAM29 except 1032 pixels per line and 1" format.
Asynchronous Operation - The CAM17-06/16 series offers asynchronous trigger operation with full frame 512 x 512 pixel non-interlaced imaging.
Features: Asynchronous & 30 or 60 fps operation, square pixel pitch, gated integration, TV compatible setup mode.
Options: 8-bit digital output, fast shutter, fibre-optic window, temporary window.
High Frame Rate
(For Adaptive Optics) -
CAM17-26/36/46 series offers frame rates at 100 (512 x 256 pixels), 200 (512 x 128 pixels) & 400 (256 x 128 pixels) frames/second respectively.
Options: 8-bit digital output, fast integration control card, fibre-optic window, temporary window.
Low Light - The ICAM series allow high resolution low light images to be captured in a standard TV type format, giving the benefit of real time acquisition.
Features: 18mm Super Gen2 intensifier, 550µA/lumen responsivity, straight fibre-optic coupling, 1" format, 500 TVL typical limiting resolution, 35dB @ 3 mlux (20dB @ 300µlux - faceplate - typical) signal/noise ratio. Control unit: camera gain 10x range, intensifier gain 20x range.
Spectroscopy CCD
Driver Assembly -
The driver assembly is a versatile tool which may be used for the evaluation of EEV's spectroscopic CCDs and the development of complete spectroscopy systems.
Features: Slow-scan operation for very low readout noise, pixel & line binning, 50kHz to 1MHz readout rates, remote or switch selectable operation, potentiometer adjustment of clock amplitudes, bias offset, etc.

Application Specific Custom Designs - Cameras

EEV's CCD camera activity includes an Applications Engineering group which has been successful for many years in meeting increasingly demanding, custom requirements in defence, scientific, industrial and medical applications.

Existing cameras are often used as the building blocks, but it is sometimes necessary to adopt a more radical developmental approach to meet a customer's system objective. The wide range of standard cameras and the group's experience in customisation enables the camera performance and functionality to be optimised whilst minimising the cost of the agreed programme.

EEV has been successful in meeting requirements for European and US military organisations, high energy physics institutes throughout the world and a host of instrumentation OEMs.

EEV's experience is particularly relevant in offering image acquisition and capture solutions in the following areas:

Low Light Level TV imaging including all generations of intensifiers
Slow Scan Camera Driver Boards to match EEV's wide range of scientific sensors
High resolution cameras
Fast framing cameras (to 400Hz)
With additional options such as:
Fibre-optic coupling
Intensifier gating
Standard/Inverted mode sensors
Back-thinned sensors
Peltier cooling
Scintillator coating for X-ray imaging
Extensive environmental testing
