Cyclic Spectroscopy of PSR B1937+21 test observations

The NANOGrav collaboration is exploring a new analysis and time-of-arrival correction technique based on cyclic spectroscopy (Demorest 2008). We request two 45-min observing sessions on the millisecond pulsar B1937+21 in order to obtain data to test this technique. The observations will be made with the 327 MHz receiver and require baseband sampling with at least 8 bits if digitization. An observing bandwidth of 2 MHz will be adequate, but 5 MHz or 10 MHz would be more desirable. We will undertake these with the understanding that the data may be produced in a non-standard, non-supported mode. In that case we will be on our own for data analysis. The observations need to be conducted between Jan. 19 - 29, 2011. This is a pilot pro ject and we plan to submit an expanded observing request for an upcoming proposal deadline.
