Searching for giant pulses from PSR B1951+32

We request 2.5 hours to observe PSR B1951+32 at L-wide using the Arecibo radio telescope to search for giant pulses. The youth, large values of inferred magnetic field at the light cylinder and spin-down luminosity, and detected high-energy emission as well as many similarities with the Crab pulsar make PSR B1951+31 a good potential candidate giant-pulse pulsar. This study will also help to better distinguish between the giant pulse and giant micropulse phenomena observed in other pulsars.
