SLTA Link Manager
a. Start the SLTA Link Manager
b. Select Link | New.
c. For a link name use a unique name appended with the Remote LON
Network Connection. Ex. RemoteSLTALON2
d. Select Remote
e. Remote Identifier: Use your network database name in single
quotes. Ex: 'REMOTEQ'
f. Update Identifier: check this box so that the slta-10 is updated
with the new name.
g. Press the next button.
h. Telephone Number: Enter the telephone number of the site with
the nodes.
i. Press the Configure Line button
j. Port Speed: Select 19200 baud and Press OK.
k. Press Next
l. Command Line: enter C:\Program Files\Common Files\Cummins
Shared\Power Generation\PostEchBvAlarm.exe %id% %LINKNAME%
m. Start In: blank
n. Device Assignment: There will probably be just one device here.
It should be the LON device used for remote connection. Ex:
LON2
. Connect to the SLTA-10 and perform further setup
a. Select Link | Connect Now.
b. Select Device | Configure SLTA.
c. Initialization String that works: ATE0V0S0=1&C1&D2
d. Dial Prefix that works: ATDT
e. Dialing Directories: Select radio button 1 and enter the phone
number of the modem connected to the PC.
f. All other entries in this dialog box are 0 or blank.
. Test the SLTA connection
a. With nothing else using the SLTA-10 select Devices |
Diagnostics.
b. Press the Test button. 7 lines of stats should be displayed.


Lonworks Node
- install the node
- Set the network variable that holds Site ID to the database name. Ex.
REMOTEQ. You can do this by running the plug-in once.
- Add a virtual functional block to the node.
- Add a msg-out connection to the node virtual functional block.
- Add a virtual functional block to the slta-10 node.
- Add a msg-in connection to the slta-10 virtual functional block.
- Copy a connection over and connect the left side [x] to msg_out and the
right side [+] to msg_in. NOTE: you MUST connect in this direction if
more than one node is connected to msg_in in the SLTA-10, otherwise,
communication will fail for all nodes try to communicate with msg_in.



. Check whether the command line is set as below. Also check the number
of spaces in the command line.
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Cummins Shared\Power
Generation\PostEchBvAlarm.exe %id% %LINKNAME%





. Make sure the database is registered.
In order to do that, go to
Start\programs\power generation\pcw\regechdb




. Make sure the LON Network connections are set correctly, while setting
up the site.
. 4. Make sure you have the "display alarm window" selected as shown
below.





. For us folks here, 19200 is the only baud rate that works for our
modems. Below is a snapshot of our setup.

. If you do not see this window then there is some error in the command
line.


Go through the following checklist to check whether all these conditions
are fulfilled:

. The link name in the link manager is RemoteSLTALON1
. The remote identifier is the network name in single quotes e.g.
'NETLAB'
. The monitor button is depressed on the SLTA link manager.
. At all times PCW is launched on the computer.
. Make sure the command line is set correctly.
. Make sure you have the right phone numbers set at these two places:
1. In the setup for PCW
2. In the SLTA Link manager.
. Make sure Device Assignment in the SLTA is LON1.
. Baud rate 19200
. SLTA is configured and the yellow light on the SLTA is not flashing.
. For the remote SLTA the switches that are ON (1) are 2,4,6 and the
ones that are off (0) are 13578. Refer to the chart at the back of the
SLTA.
. Recycle power on the SLTA after changing the switch positions.
. You should be using null modem cable from the SLTA.
. In SLTA link manager there is a button called TEST, try testing the
SLTA using that.
. Use Plugins to write the correct Site id (name of network) and the
Device id to the network.
. Network name should be in upper case and have no spaces and should be
less than 6.
. Device name should be in upper case and have no spaces and should be
less than 6.
. Make sure the devices have the right calibrations in them.
. Resynchronize the network once and see if all the devices are
commissioned and talking to each other. You can also tell this looking
at the LEDs on the NCMs.
. Make sure remote in and remote out are bound for all the devices.
. These faults that you are expecting to be dialing out are set to dial
out in the device.
. The modem is in working condition.
