Mathematical Methods for Physics and Engineering

A Comprehensive Guide

Authors

Dr Ken Riley is a lecturer in Physics at the Cavendish Laboratory, and both Senior and Admissions Tutor at Clare College, Cambridge. His research has been in nuclear and experimental elementary particle physics; in particular he was involved in the discovery of a number of the early baryonic resonances. He has served on many committees concerned with the teaching and examining of physics and mathematics, at all levels of tertiary and undergraduate education, and has taught physics and mathematics at Cambridge for over thiry years.

Dr Mike Hobson is a researcher in the Cavendish Laboratory, and both Director of Studies in Natural Sciences and a member of the Admissions Committee at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. His research interests include cosmology, in particular primordial fluctuations in the cosmic microwave background, and star-formation. He is an experienced teacher of university physics and mathematics.

Dr Stephen Bence is a postdoctoral researcher in the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge. His research interests include the formation of stars and the structure of star-forming regions. He is an experienced teacher of university mathematics and physics and also has experience in teaching mathematics and physics to A-level students.
