"How can a PhD in Astronomy prepare you for doing other things in the Real World"

This talk provides a handy guide on what one can do in the real world after obtaining a PhD in Astronomy (and after the postdocs run out and no tenured positions available). It focusses on the various types of skills, knowledge and application gained during a PhD that actually makes one quite employable across a range of areas and positions/roles. This is based on my own experience (and other ex-astro bodies) to provide case study examples covering a wide array of project and technology types and the range of different roles over the years. This talk provides important awareness raising for young students тАУ noting that one may not stay in oneтАЩs chosen field and that a ’multi-career’ is more than likely, along with the numerous opportunities possible out there.
