"AGN Feedback in Cosmological Simulations"

I will present a new model for seeding black holes in cosmological simulations, in which gas properties determine where they form. Using this model, I will show how AGN feedback affects the evolution of massive galaxies, causing them to become less massive, smaller, and redder. In addition, several observed relationships, including cosmic star formation rate density, galaxy luminosity function, and [alpha/Fe]-mass, can only begin to be reproduced when it is included. Finally, I will show how the enrichment history of massive galaxies and the IGM may be influenced by AGN feedback.
