The tuition in 2016-2017 is $8500 (US) for one semester or $16500 (US) for the whole academic year. If you enlist for a year and are accepted, the tuition for the whole year should be paid before the deadline for the first semester of this year; then the reduction is applicable for you. You can also pay the first semester tuition only, and the full price of the second semester in its turn. Keep in mind that if you pay for one semester and wish to stay for another one, you are obliged to leave Russia and reenter it with a new visa. Lodging, meals, transportation, textbooks and medical insurance are not included in the tuition. Estimates for these costs can be found below.

Lodging
Rent for rooms at the student hostel is about $170 per month.

Meals
A cafeteria in the main university building is very inexpensive: $5 for lunch. Restaurants in Moscow are rather expensive, but a business lunch in a restaurant or a three course meal in a cafeteria costs about $10-$15.

Textbooks
We have published lecture notes of the most popular courses and you can buy them in our book store. For other courses one or two textbooks are recommended. Each student should expect to spend at most $300 for textbooks.

Other expenses
Apart from housing, living costs in Moscow are moderate. A monthly pass, permitting almost unlimited use of all means of public transportation (subway, bus, trolleybus, tram) costs about $70. We will meet you at the airport on your arrival so the transfer by taxi from the airport will be absolutely free for you. But the transfer to the airport on your departure costs about $10 if you go there by a shuttle train or about $50 if you get there by taxi.

There are numerous theaters, concert halls and museums in Moscow. A rather good ticket to the Bolshoi theater costs about $100-150. A reasonable place to any other theater can be booked at about $20-50. A movie ticket costs about $10. Admission to Moscow museums and exhibition halls costs from $5 to $20.

Thus, the estimated cost of living in Moscow for 4 month is the following:

Expense Description Cost
housing + meals $3300-$3500
local transportation $350
museums, theaters, etc. $400
St-Petersburg, Suzdal trips, excursions $750
miscellaneous $300
Total living expenses $5100-5300
  2016-2017
tuition $8500
textbooks $300

Total: tuition+living $13900-$14100

Overseas calls and transportation to and from Moscow must be added to the budget.

There is rather cheap cell phone tariff plan for calling to US and Canada from Moscow region: about $0.10 per minute and Skype works as well.
