ALL-RUSSIAN CONFERENCE
"VLBI-2012 for the astrometry, geodynamics, and astrophysics"
September 11-15, 2006, St. Petersburg, Russia

General information

The all-Russian conference entitled "VLBI-2012 for the astrometry, geodynamics, and astrophysics" with the sub-title VLBI-2012 will be held at the Institute of applied astronomy of the Russian academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg, Russia, 11-15 September 2006. The conference will be organized by the Russian academy of sciences in cooperation with other scientific and educational institutions. The conference is timed to finishing the development of the "Quasar" radio interferometry network.

The main goals of the VLBI-2012 are to summarize results of the development the VLBI technique in Russia and abroad, to discuss the systematical and instrument problems in VLBI, and to determine the most prospective lines of investigation by means of VLBI method up to 2012. Conference subjects are new problems and new requirements for VLBI of the coming decades; a new geodetic VLBI systems based on small, fast moving antennas, recent activities at VLBI networks available today; next Generation high-date-rate recording systems, new generation correlator systems, including multistation correlators and processing technologies; e-VLBI and real-time VLBI; transmission of VLBI data via high speed optical networks; new frequency ranges for astrometry and geodesy; new generation masers; advanced observational strategies; automation of station operations and remote control system; automation of preliminary processing; new modeling and analysis strategies, and estimation methods, combination of VLBI with other space geodetic techniques.
