Third announcement - preliminary deadlines

The 2^nd Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad to be held in Vladivostok and Ussurijsk (Far East of Russian Federation).

Preliminary dates for the 2^nd Asian-Pacific Astronomy Olympiad are December 4-11 (a couple weeks later than the 11^th IAO in Bombay). The actual dates will be chosen according to the most usefull day of week for international flights to/from Vladivostok (preliminary it is Monday).

Just the schedule of the flights is not clear for December, current schedule (valid till October 28) is: from Beijing (arr. 14:40), Seoul (arr. 14:20), Busan (arr. 18:30), Osaka (arr. 17:20), Toyama (arr. 16:30) and to Beijing (dep. 08:05), Seoul (dep. 16:20), Busan (dep. 13:00), Osaka (dep. 13:30), Toyama (dep. 13:10). The details of the arrival and departure have to be discussed with the Local Organizing Committee.

The main points for formation of the teams are announced in the previous announcement.

Deadlines (preliminary proposed):

A report of National Olympiad is not necessary for the first APAOs.

The deadline for receiving the applications from teams:

For the teams which ask for Russian visa - together with the personal data for visas (or before).
E-mails for sending the applications. Please, use both e-mails.
- Usual way to have invitations for visa.
  The official deadline for receiving all personal data and photocopies of the main pages of the passports (in *.jpg format, 300 dpi resolution) for every person:
  September 24, 2006, 24 h of Vladivostok time (13 h UT) (70 days before the Olympiad starting).
  E-mails for sending applications. Please, use all four e-mails.
- Urgent way (additional fee) to have invitations for visa.
  The official deadline for receiving all personal data and photocopies of the main pages of the passports (in *.jpg format, 300 dpi resolution) for every person:
  October 18, 2006, 24 h of Vladivostok time (13 h UT) (46 days before the Olympiad starting).
  E-mails for sending applications. Please, use all four e-mails.
Note 1: A team may use other way to get visas (i.e. not through invitations organized by the LOC), but it necessary to inform LOC about this way in advance and take permission from LOC.
Note 2: LOC may send various types of invitations issued by organizations involved into APAO-2006 organization. As usual these invitations are not official for asking visas in Russian Consulates, but in some cases it maybe helpful. The faxes with such inofficial invitations may be sent directly to the Consulates as well.
Note 3: For the case a team is late to send the data in time: LOC recommends to use touristic companies in your country to obtaine touristic visas to Russia. The faxes with inofficial invitations may be sent directly to the touristic company (to the company you choose) as well.
Note 4: LOC cannot adopt team of a state with official passports without visas if visas are necessary for the citizens of the country with usual passports.
The invitations for you will be issued and sent approximately in five-six weeks (usual way) or three weeks (urgent way) after receiving the valid personal data and photocopies of the main pages of the passports.
For the teams which do not ask for Russian visa:
- Recommended deadline (usual fee):
  Application with the personal data for every person have to be received not later:
  November 2, 2006, 24 h of Vladivostok time (13 h UT) (32 days before the Olympiad starting).
  E-mails for sending the applications. Please, use both e-mails.
- Final deadline (larger fee):
  Application with the personal data for every person have to be received not later:
  November 20, 2006, 24 h of Vladivostok time (13 h UT) (14 days before the Olympiad starting).
  E-mails for sending the applications. Please, use both e-mails.
But no official invitations for visas may be issued in this case.

Preliminary: for the case the Olympiad to be on December 4-11:
Teams may stay in Vladivostok since two days before before December 4 and two days later December 11, i.e. it is possible to arrive since December 2 and depart not later December 13. Earlier arrivals or later departures are not possible.
