Preface
The necessity of the preparation and edition of such intricate publication, that is the printed version offered to the reader, of geoinformation system including the chronological catalogue and evolutionary database of the global tropical cyclogenesis is dictated, in opinion of the authors, whole number of objective circumstances. On the one hand, the own long-term experience of the authors on formation of the temporary catalogues and databases of tropical cyclogenesis for the decision of a number of concrete physical problems has shown absence of a similar sort of archives of the systematized data, that could in the full measure satisfy the inquiries and requirements of the physical experiment. On the other hand, we note that the classification procedures, accepted to the present time, for the various forms of the tropical disturbunces can not in the full measure satisfy the inquiries of remote monitoring of the tropics. It derivates the serious dissensions in the initial (`raw') information as well as in databases and archives of regional cyclogenesises. Below we shall touch the specified circumstances in detail enough. Here we specify that the experimental base of the study of the effect of tropical disturbances of a various degree of intensity on thermodynamics and kinematics of the tropical atmosphere should be served with the systematized remote data about global tropical cyclogenesis, i.e. about the physical process considered simultaneously on all of the basin of World ocean (instead of on its separate basins - that is investigated in overwhelming amount of scientific works). Other group of circumstances lays in an administrative plane and is connected with a wide circulation of the textual messages, separate fragments of the satellite information and preliminary forecasts of active phases of evolution of tropical cyclones in mass media and in a network Internet by federal US organizations and business with the purpose of warning the population about the impending danger and taking the necessary precautions. Not in the least imploring the importance of such statement of the problem, it is necessary to note that the absence of the systematic approach in such fragmentary archiving seriously hampers the use of these sources of the information both for the scientific analysis, and for the development of scientific databases. Such information requires the very serious critical analysis, before it can be used in the scientific and practical purposes. Besides we note that the electronic and printed versions of the same database considerably differ both on structure and on character of representation of the data. And, hence, they are in essence intended for performance, generally speaking, of different scientific and applied tasks. All of the preceding has induced the authors to undertake a attempt of the edition of the printed version of the global tropical cyclogenesis data for 1983­2000 years in the form, which, in opinion of the authors, will be convenient enough and effective both for the preliminary analysis at statement of a different sort of experimental physical tasks and during their concrete decision. For convenience of the English language reader the present edition ( namely its textual part) is represented in the bilingual form (Russian and English texts). As far as the authors know, the geoinformation system of a similar nature including the chronological catalogues and the evolutionary databases for the global tropical cyclogenesis is first published. The represented edition is the natural generalization of a cycle of works of the authors on information maintenance of the study of the global tropical cyclogenesis , executed since 1990 till the present time. During all this time the authors have used advices and recommendations of the colleagues. First of all, the authors are grateful to the employees of Hydrometeocentre of Russia T. S. Kruzhkova and T. G. Ivanidze for putting at our disposal the primary information on tropical cyclones from the archive of Hydrometeocentre for 1983­1992.
