How to transfer QC web pages from your PC/mac to the ESO web server www.eso.org

The QC web pages should be maintained locally on your PC, using a web editing tool like dreamweaver. The local version is always the master.

To make them visible, use scp (available under linux or, as WinSCP, under Windows). Set up a connection as 'qc' to stargate1 and then scp the page to the corresponding folder on stargate1. Note that stargate1 is not the ESO web server (these are called w1 and w2) but has the directory with the QC pages
/WWWdocslive/diskwa/webdocs/eso/observing/dfo/quality
cross-mounted under
$HOME/qc

Under linux, you just type 'cd qc' after login. Under Windows, you open the WinSCP login window, select your login session (that you have previously defined, e.g. as 'stargate1_qc_public'), click 'Advanced options', 'Environment/directories' and select your local and remote directories.

After having setup this, you just select your files and you are done. They become visible immediately.

DON'T DO:
- download a file with 'wget' from the web into your PC (it will expand all virtual includes)
- download a file with your browser (same)
- use w4 (the old way)
