DATE AND PLACE OF BIRTH:
Born July 26, 1972 in Kuala Lupur but per other data he was born in Negri Sembilan.

EDUCATION AND RANKS:
He received a Master of science degree in Orthopaedic Surgery at University Kebangsaan Malaysia.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:
Orthopedist at University Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

FAMILY STATUS: Single.

HOBBY:
He is keen on yoga and meditation, swimming and gymnastics. He has a professional scuba diver license.

PARTICIAPTION IN SELECTION:
In December 2005 he was assigned as one of 27 semi-finalists of the first anagkasewan recruitment in Malaysia for a flight onboard the Russian spacecraft to the ISS in 2007 together with the visiting crew.
In February 2006 upon the profound medical examinations he was assigned together with 8 finalists for the final phase.
On March 14, 2006 he was selected as one of 4 candidates for angkasawans sent to Moscow for examination.
On April 29, 2006 he reported to the last phase of medical examination in Moscow, which was completed on June 2. On August 8 2006 he was admitted by the Chief Medical Commission to special training.
In September 4, 2006 Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi selected him as one of two angkasawans sent to Yu.A. Gagarin CTC for training.
On September 27, 2006 he reported to Moscow and on October 9 started training at Yu.A. Gagarin CTC for a flight to the ISS.
