The crew of the third Russian visiting mission to the International
Space Station (ISS) - a Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gidzenko
(the Soyuz spacecraft commander, instructor, test cosmonaut
of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center), an Italian citizen
Roberto Vittori (flight engineer, ESA astronaut), and a
citizen of the Republic of South Africa Mark Shuttleworth
(space flight participant) - has returned to Earth in the
descent vehicle of the Soyuz TM-33 spacecraft after completing
a 10-day mission program.

Being launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome on 25 April
2002, the Russian Soyuz TM-34 manned transport spacecraft
docked to the International Space Station (ISS).
At 11:55:51 Moscow summer time (7:55:51 UTC) the spacecraft
docking assembly came into contact with the port of the
ISS Functional Cargo Block Zarya.

At the launch pad prior to boarding the spacecraft. A few
minutes later the express elevator will deliver the cosmonauts
to the boarding hatch of Soyuz TM-34 spacecraft.

04/24/2002 Baikonur cosmodrome.
At 8:00 a.m. Moscow time a meeting of the State Board for
the launch of the third Russian visiting crew to the ISS
took place in a special hall of Cosmonaut Hotel. The State
Board approved the Soyuz TM-34 prime crew consisting of
Yuri Gidzenko, Commander, flight cosmonaut of RF, Roberto
Vittori, Flight Engineer, ESA astronaut of Italian nationality,
and Mark Shuttleworth, space flight participant, citizen
of the South Africa. The backup crew consisting of Gennagy Padalka,
Commander, flight cosmonaut of RF, Oleg Kononenko, Flight
Engineer, test-cosmonaut of RSC Energia. The State Board
confirmed the scheduled launch date and time, i.e. April
25, 2000 at 10:26:33 Moscow summer time (06:26:33 UTC).

04/23/2002 Baikonur cosmodrome.
At 5:00 a.m. Moscow time launch vehicle with the Soyuz TM-34
spacecraft was transferred from Assembly and Testing Facility
to launch site. The Soyuz-U - Soyuz TM system was erected
on the launcher.

Preparation of the Soyuz TM-34 spacecraft for launch to
the International Space Station with the third Russian visiting
crew (VC-3) is in good progress.
In the LV processing facility, the orbital module was integrated
with the launch vehicle.

At 15 hours Moscow time, a meeting of the Intergovernmental
Commission and the Technical Management was held where a
decision was made to roll out the launch vehicle carrying
Soyuz TM-34 to the launch pad.

The third Russian visiting crews to the ISS consisting of

 In
accordance with the International Space Station (ISS) mission
plan, a logistics vehicle Progress M1-8 has been put into
a low Earth orbit.
The vehicle was launched at 23:13:39 Moscow Time.

 The
launcher with the Progress M1-8 transport cargo vehicle
was rolled out from Assembly and Test Building, delivered
to the launching area and erected on the launch pad.
