Transport cargo vehicle Progress M-17M docked to the International Space Station

Russian transport cargo vehicle (TCV) Progress M17-M was docked to the International Space Station (ISS).

At 17 hours 33 minutes 46 seconds Moscow Time, contact of the ISS Russian Segment (RS) Zvezda Service Module docking port took place - following six hours after space vehicle injection into orbit as was foreseen in its nominal mission program.

TCV rendezvous with the station, its flying around and its stationkeeping were conducted in an automatic mode during the first 4 orbits. The docking of the space vehicle to the station was completed on the fifth orbit.

Crew of the ISS-33 expedition working onboard the station followed progress in the rendezvous and docking processes. All dynamic operations were performed under control of the Technical Management (with RSC Energia President, General Designer V.A. Lopota acting as the Technical Manager).

Lead Operation Control Team (LOCT) performed flight control and monitoring of space vehicle and station state in the rendezvous and docking phase. In so doing, LOCT maintained permanent communication with the State Committee members, the Corporation managers and specialists; representatives of Roscosmos, subcontractors and space industry organizations located at Baikonur Cosmodrome.

The flight director is First Deputy General Designer of RSC Energia V.A. Soloviev.

By telemetry information data and according to the ISS crew reports, onboard systems of the station and space vehicle operate in design modes.

  1. More than 2.6 tons of cargoes were delivered by TCV to the ISS, including 56 kg for the station USOS (American Segment) and 112 kg of the US cargoes for Russian cosmonauts.
  2. ISS RS content: functional cargo unit Zarya; Zvezda, Pirs, Poisk and Rassvet Modules; Soyuz TMA - 05M, Soyuz TMA-06M, Progress M-16M and Progress M-17M space vehicles.
