At
08:08:42 Moscow Daylight Saving Time a launch vehicle Soyuz-FG
with Soyuz TMA-9 spacecraft was launched from the Baikonur
launch site to the International Space Station.
The Increment 14 (ISS-14) crew and visiting crew
11 (VC-11) are on board the Russian transport manned
vehicle.
The crew of Soyuz TMA-9 consists
of a Russian pilot-cosmonaut, test cosmonaut of
S.P.Korolev RSC Energia Mikhail Vladislavovich Turin,
NASA astronaut Michael Eladio Lopez-Alegria; a space
flight participant Ansari Anousheh. The objective
of the launch is the scheduled replacement of the
crew of Expedition Thirteen (ISS-13) and of the Soyuz
TMA-8 spacecraft that has been serving within the
space station as its crew rescue vehicle since April
1, 2006.

Federal Space Agency and S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia leaders are talking with the crew members.
The
main crew is donning flight space suits and checking them for pressure integrity.

A
meeting of the State Commission was held. RSC Energia President
and Designer General N. N. Sevastiyanov reported on the
readiness of the manned space-rocket system Soyuz-FG/Soyuz
TMA-9 for further pre-launch processing. He noted that the
International Space Station (ISS) is ready for the arrival
of Expedition 14 and visiting crew 11.
A meeting of the State Commission was held,
which approved the primary and the backup
crews for Soyuz TMA-9 and ISS-14, and also
made a decision to proceed with preparations
of the space-rocket system Soyuz-FG/Soyuz
TMA-9 for fuelling and launch at the scheduled
time - on September 18, 2006, at 08 hours
08 minutes Moscow Time.

Cosmodrome.
At 5 hours 00 minutes Moscow Time space-rocket system Soyuz
was rolled out from the Integration and Checkout Facility
to the launch pad. Launch vehicle Soyuz-FG carrying Soyuz
TMA-9 transportation spacecraft is erected on the launch
pad. The work under the program of the first launch day
has commenced.

In the LV Integration and Checkout Facility, the basic integration
of the Soyuz-FG launch vehicle with the upper composite has
been completed.

Technical management meeting was held, chaired by President
and Designer General of S.P.Korolev RSC Energia N.N.Sevastiyanov
and the State Commission. It was decided to proceed with
the roll-out to the launch pad of the launch vehicle carrying
transportation spacecraft Soyuz TMA-9.

Orbital
module of the Soyuz-FG launch vehicle, containing Soyuz
TMA-9 spacecraft was transported from the Spacecraft Assembly
and Testing Facility to the Launch Vehicle Assembly and
Testing Facility for integration.

The
Soyuz TMA-9 prime and backup crews inspected the transport
spacecraft in its launch configuration in the Assembly and
Testing Facility. Additionally the crews had a consultation
on the kits of equipment that are to be delivered to and
returned from orbit on-board Soyuz TMA spacecraft.

Preparation
of the Soyuz TMA-9 manned spacecraft for launch to the International
Space Station is in good progress. Transport vehicle Soyuz
TMA-9 loaded with propellants and compressed gases was delivered
to the Spacecraft Assembly and Testing Facility for final
processing operations.

Cosmodrome.
The prime and backup crews of the 14th long-duration
expedition and 11th visiting crew of the ISS
proceeded to the final training phase at the
processing facility. Mikhail Tyurin, Michael
Lopez-Alegria, Anoushek Ansari performed a fit
check of Sokol-KB spacesuits. The cosmonauts
and astronauts inspected Soyuz TMA-9 space vehicle,
accomplished a fit check of the individual seat
liners, became familiar with the flight data
files and the list of cargo to be delivered,
verified functionality of the radio communication
equipment, as well as had a lesson on the scientific
experiments.

The
prime crew (M.V. Tyurin (Russia), M. Lopez-Alegria (USA),
A Ansari (USA)) and the backup crew (Y.I. Malenchenko (Russia)
and P. Whitson (USA) of Soyuz TMA-9 transport vehicle arrived
to Baikonur cosmodrome. At the airport they were met by
N.N. Sevastyanov, S.P. Korolev RSC Energia President, General
Designer and other Corporation managers.
The crew commanders reported to Nikolai Sevastyanov
about their readiness for preflight trainings. From
September 4 through September 18 the cosmonauts and
astronauts will have to accomplish trainings and accept
Soyuz TMA-9 space vehicle.

As the preparations for Russian Visiting Crew 11 are under
way, at one of the shops of Experimental Machinebuilding
Plant of RSC Energia after S.P. Korolev the space flight
participant (SFP) from Japan Daisuke Enomoto and his backup
Anousheh Ansari (USA) were for the first time acquainted
with operational Soyuz space vehicle. They visited the
space vehicle habitation module and descent module. While
making themselves comfortable in the right seat of the
space vehicle with space suit Sokol-KV2 on, they appreciated
their future working place in the capacity of SFP. The
same familiarization activities were conducted by Mikhail
Tyurin, test cosmonaut, pilot-cosmonaut, next Soyuz commander
and flight engineer of ISS-14 Prime Crew.
