If you buy your cinema tickets from the head office of CPSU - CSIRO Division
in Melbourne, you pay the proper CPSU negotiated price of $7 for adults and $5
for children. However, because they have to buy the tickets in lots of 10,000,
they only order when they have a big backlog of orders. So the service can be
appalling e.g. I ordered ~80 tickets (for a combined order for staff from my
site) in mid-February and they didn't arrive until late April.

The alternative is to order from the NSW Branch of CSPU in town. But they were
so overwhelmed with large numbers of requests for small numbers of tickets,
that they decided to put the price up to $8 to reduce the number of requests.
I imagine this would have worked very effectively, as you can buy movie money
directly from the cinemas for exactly the same price and much more
conveniently.

Good luck trying to get good service for your members. If anyone else finds
this as irritating as I do, then please let me know. HO in Melbourne may just
need a push to make the effort to get together with some other CPSU Division
so that they can share the cost of doing bulk orders of tickets.
