Source Finding Challenges with ASKAP
Source Finding Challenges with ASKAP
19:00 Thu 29 Apr to 10:00 Thu 29 Apr 2010

ATNF Marsfield Lecture Theatre

<p>
Source-finding - extracting astronomical objects of interest from images or data cubes - is of interest across a wide range of ASKAP Survey Science Projects. Automated source-finding will be part of the ASKAP on-line processing pipeline, and determining optimal source-finding algorithms will be key to getting the best scientific results.

We are holding a 1-day workshop on source-finding techniques, with the goals of:
1. Finding common challenges in spectral-line, continuum and polarisation source-finding for ASKAP Survey Science Projects
2. Discussing existing and future solutions - what can we learn from past surveys.
3. Planning the way forward for cross-SSP work on source-finding

Everyone is welcome to attend. Please email tara@physics.usyd.edu.au, ahopkins@aao.gov.au or Matthew.Whiting@csiro.au to register your interest.

We expect the workshop will run from approx 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Telecon facilities will be available.

The program is available - follow the link below for more information.
