Interplanetary Scintillation and Space weather - Prof S.Ananthakrishnan Lunch Talk

Interplanetary scintillation (IPS) is a powerful and economic method
for high angular resolution studies of compact extra galactic radio sources
as well as for being used as a diagonostic of the space weather conditions
in the inner heliosphere. On both these aspects, extensive work has been
done at Ooty, using the large Ooty Radio Telescope, since early 70's.

In this talk, we briefly describe the IPS method of measuring the
scintillating flux in compact components of radio sources as well as
how to estimate the solar wind velocity using single radio telescopes.
Some of the interesting results that have been obtained recently
using the Ooty telescope will be described.
