My main field of interest is modelling dust extinction and emission
in the disk of spiral galaxies. Radiative transfer simulations are
compared to optical, FIR and sub-mm observations to assess the dust
mass, distribution relative to star and optical/emission properties.
Following a workshop we dedicated
to the topic, I started a collaboration with other radiative transfer
experts to both cross-validate the various radiative transfer codes
available in the literature, and analyze the FIR/submm emission of
edge-on galaxies observed by the satellite Herschel (HEROES &
NHEMESES projects).
I'm a member of the HeViCS
consortium, a Herschel Open Time Key Project to observe the Virgo Cluster.
I'm also interested in the formation, evolution and survival of dust grains in
high-redshift objects, and in comparing the extinction / emission properties of
dust with observations of distant sources.
