ARMAGH PLANETARIUM IN THE NEW MILLENNIUM
A new focus
Armagh Planetarium developed its focus from 2000, concentrating on delivering outreach to the public. Science communicators from Armagh travelled throughout Ireland and beyond, even as far as Nigeria, to present StarDome shows and workshops. The range of shows on offer broadened to cover topics such as rockets, dinosaurs and electricity and magnetism. These featured lots of hands-on demonstrations encouraging audience participation, and proved very popular. Since 2000 over 100 000 people have enjoyed live shows presented by the Armagh Planetarium education team.

A proud legacy
Armagh Planetarium has been completely renovated and up-dated to ensure our visitors enjoy a superb experience. Our building has been totally refurbished to make it more comfortable and environmentally friendly, and it looks more stunning than ever in its high-tech aluminium cladding. The Digital Theatre has been refurbished from top to bottom and can accommodate 94 visitors in air-conditioned comfort. An impressive Bose® stereo sound system and advanced LED lighting suite enhance the audience's enjoyment of our programme of stunning new star shows. Our marvellous Digistar 3 is directly descended from Armagh's first experiments with video in the 1970s so we have come full-circle. Armagh Planetarium has a long history of achievement and continues to educate and entertain the public. Dr Lindsay would be proud of this legacy.
