The support for Apogee cameras offered here is built on an Open Source library
provided by The Random Factory. A copy of the original source is in
../libapogee, as is our modified verison. The modification is necessary to
provide a layer between the C++ code of the library and the C code of XmCCD.

At this time XmCCD supports the Alta series of Apogee cameras. Contact us if
you would like to have another series included. We may add support for the now
obsolete parallel port camera because we have one. The Ascent series of cameras
may work with this driver but we do not have one to test.

Although Apogee does now have a filterwheel, we do not explicitly include it in
this driver because we have no way to test it. This driver will issue a request
to a system script "set_camera_filter #" which is expected to send the request
to an external filter wheel. The script routine in the source code
is an example of how this is done. There is a program included for the
Optec IFW filter wheels. To enable the external filter wheel, set the
appropriate "define" in protocol.h.
