In 1965 my Dad and I came up with a mount using a gate hindge, Later, I modified it to use two hinges bolted together and allowing for lattitude adjustment. I used a tripod base boards, a "t" nut and two pieces of a piano hinge to take 30second eclipse photos first in Mexico then in Venezuela. It worked for 2 meter focal length shots. Using a protractor, I can pre-mark my lattitude angle and use a buble level or I can sight along the piano hinge. Remeber Polaris is alsmost a degree off Polar North.
