The fakerat software is distributed by ftp ra.asc.rssi.ru
(193.232.4.241).
It is located in the "software/fakerat" subdirectory.
To get access to the software you must be registered at
the ASC RadioAstron Server "ra.asc.rssi.ru"
------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT:
At present the software "FAKERAT" runs only under 32 bit Linux
workstation in X windows with C shell script.
-------------------------------------------------------
1. Launch csh or tcsh if you use another shell. All procedure
runs under C shell.

2. Copy all files from the given directory to your computer.

3. You must unpack "fakeratlib_20100407.tgz" by

tar xvfz fakeratlib_20100407.tgz

4. Then copy thus obtained directory "fakeratlib_20100407"
to your home directory.

5. You shall provide (acting under root account) the
symbol reference to this directory:

ln -s ~/fakeratlib_20100407 /usr/local/fakerat

6. And do not forget to write path in the configuration file
".cshrc":

set path=($path /usr/local/fakerat)

7. Then, unpack the next file "fakerat_07041020.tgz" into your
home directory:

tar xvfz fakerat_20100407.tgz

Now you have the directory, where the fakerat will be started
by "run" command.

8. You must be sure that PGPLOT software is installed at your computer.
One may get PGPLOT at ftp://ftp.asctro.caltech.edu/pub/pgplot5.2.tar.gz
One of the most common errors when running fakesat_menu is for the
menu to be appear but with no words. The reason for this is that
PGPLOT cannot find the "grfont.dat" font file. To remedy this
situation edit the "run" C shell script end set the PGPLOT_FONT
environmental variable to the pathname of the "grfont.dat" file.

Then, copy txt-file representing the current version of orbit to
the "orbit" subdirectory located in "fakerat_07041020". In order
to activate selected file with orbit you must provide the symbol
reference indicated to selected orbit-file by

ln -s ~/fakerat_20100407/orbit/raXXXX.txt ~/fakerat_20100407/orbit/ra_orbit

where raXXXX.txt is the name of the file containing orbit data.

Now, everything is ready.

The run C shell script can perform several functions. To find
out more about "run" type
run -h.

In order to aid novice users a simplified version of the interactive
menu system has been produced. This enables only a limited number
of parameters to be changed and options to be run. This should
be quite sufficient for most users. Indeed it can be quite dangerous
for novice users to change parameters that the VLBI observer has
no control over. This simplified version of the menu is the default.
A more advanced user can obtain the full range of options by typing
"run -c" instead of simply "run".

All the parameters that can be viewed on the interactive menu are
stored in the menu_defaults file. If this file should become corrupted
fakesat_menu will not work correctly. As a precaution every time
fakesat_menu starts it copies the menu_defaults file to a backup copy
called menu_defaults.1. Thus, if the menu_defaults file becomes corrupted
or you accidently delete it, you can rectify the situation by copying
the menu_defaults.1 file to the menu_defaults file.

9. To use "FAKERAT Reference Manual" one must hale "LaTex" installed.

I wish you successful job.

In a case of any faults and bugs in operation, please, send your
remarks to k701@asc.rssi.ru
All such notes are very valuable for us.
