Solar Observing, Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn

gaplazaCome out and safely view the Sun andˆà its fascinating features through our special solar-equipped telescopes at historic Grand Army Plaza, at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Eastern Parkway, where they meet the entrance to Prospect Park.

We will be set up on the plaza near the big arch, just opposite the entrance to the park. Several important cultural institutions and architectural monuments are associated with Grand Army Plaza, including the Brooklyn Central Library, Prospect Park, and the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch, which resembles the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

Take the #2 or the #3 subway to the Grand Army Plaza Station. Walk up Flatbush Avenue or Plaza Street until you see the monument and traffic circle. Or, take the Q or B to the 7th Avenue Station. Follow Flatbush Avenue up the hill. Grand Army Plaza is about 3 blocks away.
