Library, Archives and Historic Scientific Instruments Building

Strong support for the provision of a new Library, Archives and Historic Scientific Instruments Building was expressed by the Board of Governors at their annual meeting in March 2004. They drew particular attention to the pressing need for a suitable archive and library building to provide a more accessible library, some office space and a suitable public display of the Observatory's archives. During 2004 the project was advanced largely by John Butler, who prepared a detailed application for external funding to support the proposal, which is intended to be submitted to the HLF in 2005.
