From: TerryMoselxiatsign@aol.com Date: Sat, 2 Oct 2004 18:37:51 EDT Subject: Horizon on Dinosaur Extinction, Dunsink, SAN repeats Hi all, 1. Ben Dempsey of 'Horizon' has announced that the 'Death of the dinosaurs" programme is to be broadcast on Thursday 7th October, at 9pm on BBC. This is about the K/T 'extinction' boundary controversy between Gerta Keller and Theirry Adatte (and others). 2. I had heard, as may have some of you, that Dunsink Observatory was threatened with closure at the end of this year. But it now seems that that warning was a bit premature, and it now seems as if that there's no immediate danger of that happening. But I'm sure we would all be totally opposed to such an eventuality, so if the prospect looks like becoming more serious, we'll be asking everyone to lobby hard against it! I'll keep you informed. 3. "SKY AT NIGHT". (Re earlier email about repeats) Chris Lintott has informed me as follows: Just a quick note that there are no plans to drop the Sky at Night's Saturday repeat - we simply get three bites at the cherry. Only the BBC4 show will have the extra ten minutes, though." Clear Skies, Terry Moseley
