Bright Fireball
At 0230 in the morning of 23rd of April, a bright fireball was detected
by the Armagh Observatory video meteor station. All three of the cameras
recorded the event. The fireball was also detected by Robert Cobain's meteor
station in Bangor where its brightness was estimated to be -11.
From Armagh, its brightness was comparable to, if slightly less than,
that of the Full moon. Its direction of motion in the sky is consistent
with it being part of the Lyrid meteor shower that usually peaks on the
22nd of April.
The meteor also left a persistent bright train lasting at least a second and
possibly several seconds following the meteoroid's obliteration in the
atmosphere.
