Results from 6m telescope observations
of globular clusters in dwarf galaxies

Sharina M.

We consider properties of globular clusters in dwarf galaxies
observed with the multi-slit unit of the SCORPIO spectrograph at the SAO 6m
telescope. The majority of our sample galaxies have low and extremely low
surface brightness and are very faint (Mv ~ -12 mag).
We found, that all studied GCs have low metallicity [Z/H]<-1.2 dex and show
a large spread of ages (1-9 Gyr).
It appears, that many GCs have masses ~10^5 M_sun, a value
proper to GC population of our own galaxy and other massive galaxies. We
discuss our chemical analysis results and the
specific frequency of GCs in these galaxies in the context of the
LambdaCDM cosmological paradigm. According to this scenario al
structures in the Universe form by merging of smaller sub-units,
and dwarf galaxies are considered to be the
building blocks of massive galaxies. We compare our results with data
from the literature on GCs in more massive galaxies, which could shed
light on the origin and assembly history of GCSs and their host
galaxies. Studying GCs in dwarf galaxies at the faintest
end of the galaxy luminosity function provides valuable information
for a better understanding of galaxy evolution and evolutionary
connection between globular clusters and nuclei of galaxies.
