The Frame Menu

The Frame Menu

The Frame menu controls multiple frame buffers in SAOtng. Each frame buffer has its own colormap associated with it and can display one or more images. The current frame is displayed below the menu.

The following options are available via the File menu:

Goto Frame [n]
For each frame, a Goto Frame menu option exists to change frames. If an image is loaded into a frame, its name is specified in the menu.

Create New Frame [n]
Create a new frame #n, where n is the next available frame number.

Annotate Frame
Brings up a menu which allows you to add annotations to the current frame. You can add the current image filename, date, a description of the region name mapping, or a text marker. Annotations are implemented as text markers. They initially are placed in the upper left corner of the screen but can be moved anywhere.

In addition, if more than one frame has been created, the following options become available:

Goto Next Frame
Make the next frame (in numeric sequence) the current frame, wrapping back to frame 1 as needed.

Goto Previous Frame
Make the previous frame (in numeric sequence) the current frame, wrapping back to the last frame as needed.

Delete This Frame
Delete the current frame (including any image being displayed).
Finally, two independent sets of frame options are available. if only frame #1 is active, then autoconfiguration options are displayed:
Manually configure width and length of frame #1
This will bring up a dialog window that allows specification of a framesize regardless of the size of the loaded image. One or two integer values should be entered (a square frame is assumed if one value is specified) and the current frame will be reconfigured for that size. When a frame size is specified manually, auto-configuration is turned off so that new images use also the specified frame size. They can be turned back on with:
Disable/Enable Auto-configure of Frame #1
Toggle the autoconfig mode. When turned on, loading new images will trigger a frame autoconfigure. When turned off, the last frame size will be used for new image.

If more than 1 frame is active, then tile and blink options are available:

Tile Frames
Display up to 4 frames on a single screen. The current frame is activated by moving the mouse into that area on the screen.

Blink Frames
Blink frames by displaying them in sequence. The blink rate can be controlled using the Control Panel menu option in the File menu. While blinking is active, the name of this option is changed to Stop Blink and it is used to stop the blinking.
