Title : The Lava River Fortress
Author : Jean-Pierre Brunod (Sir Jopper)
Email Address : J.Brunod@agora.stm.it
Misc. Author Info : Do you want to know something about me,
huh? You will know nothing! I am one of
the strongest doom players, this will be enough.
(if you don't believe it, then CHALLENGE ME!)

Description : This level belong to my newly-created
"1500-shock" series. What does this means?
These levels are about 1500 vertexes (!),
There is generally new graphic in them, and
sometimes new sounds and music. Hey, if you
aren't good at DOOM, then don't play this.
Or you will have to cheat...a VERY BAD thing!
It is a PWAD created for 2-player (or more)
games. I can play it even alone, but you?
A description of this level: You escaped the
sewers of the Fortress, only discovering you
left them exiting the wrong side! (stupid...)
Then you must return down to the sewers by
activating an exiting switch within a hidden
elevator on the "wrong" side (the start side).
But that elevator is locked....
The you must return in the Fortress! Doom onto all
you, stupid aliens, for I'm "Back For DOOM"!!!
(Take This! -Copyright 94-95)

Additional Credits to : Raphael Quinet for DEU, Renaud Paquay and
"the others of the DEU team", Tom Sanner,
for...a great trap: You will discover it.
Jens Hykkelbjerg and Steve Benner for RMB.
Olivier Montanuy (remember me? I am the one
who talks in the name of all the people in this
good good (thanks to DOOM) Earth), for Wintex.
Did I forget something? Oh yeeeeess...
pb software...no...lk software...No. YES!
I REMEMBER IT! IT WAS HG! (or yt?) No.
Thanks to id software.

* Play Information *

Episode and Level # : Map02
Single Player : Yes (REALLY hard for common players)
Cooperative 2-4 Player : Yes (tested 2 players, I made it with this in mind)
Deathmatch 2-4 Player : Yes (YEAH! A lot of traps make this fun! Tested 2.)
Difficulty Settings : Yes (Levels 3-4)
New Sounds : Yes (Or no? It is the level 28 music, which
is, to me, one of the best)
New Graphics : Yes (Some new textures, simple to make)
I think I'll put in some new ones into version
1.2. Wait for it! (And wait for Quake...)
A Little Little Note : I'll tell you, this level is hard. But if you
have got the "Fortress Underground Prison", 1st
part of the Fortress Trilogy, you'll notice that
in the last part of that level there is a room.
Inside it there is a lot of ammo and a rocket
launcher: this could make the Lava River Fortress
easier to play.
This is 'cause I prefer making levels harder only
by adding normal monsters and trap. You'll never
find a spiderdemon or three cyberdemons in a little
room. You'll only (!) find thousands of shotgun
sergeants, imps, demons, cacodemons, lost souls and
pain elementals. With the exception of some mancubi
and arachnotrons: but they are only at the beginning,
where you should run away fast! There are also 2
arch-viles, one is really difficult to kill, unless
you have the rocket launcher...Hey, these are the
Ultra Violence settings, remember! In my levels,
you'll rarely get out of ammo: then, there are a lot
of medikits and stimpacks, but they are hidden...
It is possible to complete my levels for a common
player: but only searching for ALL the items in them.

* Construction *

Base : New level from scratch (A trap by Tom Sanner)
Build Time : I think it is 15 hours (and 56.00.56 seconds)
Editor(s) used : Windeu 5.24, Bsp 1.2x, RMB, +Wintex+ and +Deutex+
(editing graphic will never be again SO easy...)
Known Bugs : Of course no one! Listen to me, I worked on this
1500-shock level for 15 hours (and 56.00.56 seconds)
and I had not the time to align textures. I'll
soon make it, you should have the right version
about in November (Hey, I must kill somebody else
at Doom, and create a sequel.). If you find one,
PLEASE E-Mail me, and I shall fix it in a moment.
A bug that is not a bug: 'cause thise level is
really large, it runs slow on slower machines.

* A (short (or long?)) note *
Wow, I personalized my .TXT file. I must confess I created this level with
a P100 debugged. Then I tested it fifty (or fifty-one?) times, fixing
all bugs (at least I think). Then I played it, first alone. Remember, I am
a DoomProPlayer, then I finished it (knowing the solution) in fourteen minutes, never
dying. After that, I invoked my playtesters, two great Doom Players
and they finished the level in forty minutes, killing most
of the monsters, not knowing the solution. They died a lot of times.
Remember, it is better to play this level with a partner, and with two fast
machines. Are you bored? Yes, I wanted it. This level shall awake you...
Now have fun with the Lava River Fortress!!!
(And, remember: the 1500-shock series WILL continue!)

I FOUND NOW A SEQUEL! WHAT ABOUT THE
"Underground Alien City Complex"?
Hmmm...yes. UACC. I'll make it soon.

AND DO NOT FORGET, IF YOU STILL DON'T HAVE IT, THE FIRST PART OF THE FORTRESS
TRILOGY: "The Fortress Underground Prison": And wait for The Underground
Alien City Complex, the baddiest of all!
