На великолепном внегалактическом пейзаже запечатлена галактика Андромеды – ближайшая к Млечному Пути большая спиральная галактика. В поле зрения телескопа попали три объекта каталога Мессье – сама галактика Андромеды, занесенная в каталог как Мессье 31 (M31), а также Мессье 32 (M32), и Мессье 110 (M110).

Северное сияние появилось в небе над Флоридой. На снимке, сделанном 11 ноября на острове Ширед во Флориде, запечатлена яркая вспышка метеора из потока Северные Тауриды на фоне звездного неба над берегом моря. Ежегодный метеорный поток Северные Тауриды активен в это время года.

What are those colorful rings around the Moon? A corona. Rings like this will sometimes appear when the Moon is seen through thin clouds. The effect is created by the diffraction of light around individual, similarly-sized water droplets in an intervening but mostly transparent cloud.

A Dark Seahorse in Cepheus

Spanning light-years, this suggestive shape known as the Seahorse Nebula floats in silhouette against a rich background of stars and glowing hydrogen gas. Seen toward the royal northern constellation of Cepheus, the dusty, dark nebula is part of a Milky Way molecular cloud some 1,200 light-years distant.

Shiny NGC 253 is one of the brightest spiral galaxies visible, and also one of the dustiest. Some call it the Silver Coin Galaxy for its appearance in small telescopes, or just the Sculptor Galaxy for its location within the boundaries of the southern constellation Sculptor.
